"Silver Five" Layout

This is a layout I created as a submission for the hipkitclub design team call.  It's called "Silver Five" because this is what my son likes to order at IHOP, with hash browns instead of bacon.  At 3.5 years old, Aiden is still a pretty picky eater but when it comes to breakfast, that is by far his all-time favorite meal.  He doesn't like to try new things but we still try to introduce him to new things.  We've learned that the harder we push, the more resistant he is.  We are not sure whether it's a 3.5 toddler thing, a Taurus thing or just an Aiden thing.  My husband and I constantly joke about it since the both of us love food to the tenth degree- which makes his pickiness even harder for us to grasp.  I love documenting what his likes and dislikes are at different ages.  I'm sure it will be fun to look back and see if his older self ends up liking things he did not like as a child, or vice versa.

Here's the process video on YouTube:   I actually forgot to add the chipboard journalling piece in the video.

"Sparkler Fun" Layout

I was able to finish up 2 layouts last week.  So glad I was able to get into the craft room and make a layout or two.  I've been so focused on my project-life style scrapbooking and have missed doing 12x12 layouts.  Don't get me wrong.  I love both types of scrapbooking and each have their own benefits.  I am definitely a scrapper who "scraps in the mood".  So recently I needed to take a break from the "smaller" canvas of project life and create on a larger 12x12 canvas and have fun with all my mists and embellishments.

To prevent "falling behind" on my project life style/ pocket style scrapbooking, I am editing & saving my photos with pic frame and printing my photos at home every 2-3 days.  I then trim and insert the photos into the pockets.  At night while watching television with my husband, I will insert the journalling or title cards into the pockets.  This way, when I do have time to work on it, I can embellish and journal in more detail.

To be honest, I am still "journalling" on my project life style layouts from November 2013 ;) the key is not to stress about it.  I'm glad the photos and inserts are all in and all I need to do is journal- or not ;) Either way, my 3.5 year old loves flipping through the pages (journal-less and all).  He actually loves having me narrate each page with, "Once upon a time.."  He truly is a sweet boy.

Okay, enough rambling.  On to my layout.  I used the Scraptastic Kit Club Jan 2014 "Baby, It's Cold Outside".  Here is the process video on YouTube:

Total Time:  1 hour
Ingredients:
Background Paper:  Fancy Pants- Timbergrove, Retreat
Layers:  Echo Park- Keeping Cozy
Carta Bella- Playful Plaid, Rough & Tumble
              Aqua Cardstock
Embellishments:
from the kit- washi tape, cut outs, flair
Teresa Collins - Now & Then border strips
Alphas:  American Crafts Thickers- Dear Lizzy Treasure
Stickers/Labels:  Fancy Pants- Timbergrove
Stamps:  Recollections- roller date
Mists/Inks:  Heidi Swapp Color Shine- Tinsel, Navy
Tools:  Studio Calico Huey's Mask- circle graph
The Crafter's Workshop, Balzer Designs- Mix & Match Hearts Stencils

Here's the finished layout.  Enjoy!

Scrapbook Layout, "No Voice"

Last week I had some time to spend in my craft room and created a layout.  Yay me!  I actually started this layout and came back 2 days later to finish it up.  It took me a total of 39 minutes to complete.  The photo I chose was taken after Christmas when I had lost my voice.  Yes.  My husband finally got his wish.  He always tells me "Just be quiet and come over here."  And maybe my 3-1/2 year old son also got his wish since I noticed I was getting more impatient with him during the weeks leading up to the holidays.  Either way, I felt it was a blessing in disguise since I had to be more patient and listen more and talk less (or in this case, not at all).

Below is the process video on YouTube:
